The eviDent Research Showcase is back for 2025! This year’s line-up brings together topics designed to strengthen clinical decision-making and support the evolving role of dentists in broader healthcare.
This free event is open to all registered dentists and offers 2 CPD hours to all ADA members. It’s your opportunity to hear from dentist-researchers translating evidence into practical patient-centred solutions.
What to Expect
This evening will spotlight three clinician-led studies tackling real-world challenges in practice:
Dental Implants - Associate Prof Roy Judge
Join Associate Professor Roy Judge as he shares cutting-edge developments in dental implant care including the creation of a novel implant for patients with low bone volume, now in human clinical trials. You’ll learn how his team is shaping patient-centred clinical guidelines for implant care based on real-world challenges.
Roy will also introduce the soon-to-open Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD), a game-changing translational research hub that will open doors for collaborative innovation in managing implant patients with complex medical needs. This is your chance to stay ahead of the curve in implant dentistry.
Introducing Sleep Screening into Paediatric Dental Practice - Dr Raksha Bhaskar
Could your next paediatric patient be struggling with sleep disordered breathing? Dr Raksha Baskar’s pilot study proves that dentists are uniquely positioned to help.
She’ll present how routine use of the Paediatric Sleep Questionnaire (PSQ) in dental appointments helped identify SDB risk in 1 in 8 children across two Melbourne practices with nearly 98% of caregivers supporting the screening. This session will give you practical tools and confidence to integrate sleep screening into your workflow and take a proactive role in early childhood development and wellness.
Early Detection of Type 2 Diabetes in the Dental Chair - Dr Andre Priede
With type 2 diabetes on the rise, dental professionals are in a powerful position to identify at-risk patients early. Dr Andre Priede — dentist, diabetes educator and lecturer will share insights from the iDENTify study, which found T2D screening in dental settings to be both effective and well-received.
Learn how to spot the signs, apply simple screening protocols, and build stronger referral pathways to GPs. You’ll leave equipped with the knowledge to better support your patients’ overall health and reinforce your role in the broader healthcare system.
Why You Should Attend
Whether you’re looking to integrate new screening tools, strengthen your role in chronic disease prevention, or learn about innovation in implant design, this is an evening not to be missed.
