PhD opportunity: Improve the clinical outcomes of patients receiving implant treatment

The University of Melbourne Dental School and the eviDent Foundation are offering the opportunity for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) position within our team, as part of our practice-based research project.

The availability of high-quality, evidence-based clinical guidelines is currently lacking for implant therapy. This project is designed to support practitioners by providing access to real-time best-practice information and ultimately improve patient outcomes.

The newly created digital interface will allow the ongoing distribution of up-to-date developments in clinical practice to be shared and allow early reporting of treatment complications among dental practitioners. The overall objective of the digital platform is to establish an ideal tool to assist the introduction of evidence-based treatment approaches into everyday clinical practice. The application of the interface is anticipated to aid minimisation of implant treatment complications, and the related inconveniences and financial costs associated with these conditions.

Clinical benchmarked guidelines will be derived from published best-practice protocols and the findings of the retrospective study.

The influence of the new information on clinical decision-making and the differences in the clinical treatment outcomes will be evaluated through practice-based surveys and clinical audits. It is anticipated the project will improve the clinical outcomes of patients receiving implant treatment from dental practitioners with access to a novel online data-sharing platform.

For more information about the project and to submit an expression of interest, please contact A/Prof Roy Judge, .

Expressions of Interest close 5pm, Wednesday 25 September 2019.
